About Julalikari Council Aboriginal Corporation (JCAC)
Julalikari Council Aboriginal Corporation (JCAC) is an Aboriginal community service organisation governed by Julalikari Council, an elected body representing the Aboriginal community of Tennant Creek, NT. JCAC’s constitution directs the operations of the organisation with a general strategy to alleviate poverty and improve the well-being of the Aboriginal community of Tennant Creek and the surrounding Barkly region.
Julalikari Council has a deep commitment to Aboriginal participation in the design and delivery of its programs and services. This has helped JCAC pioneer the design and delivery of many programs which are now adopted by governments and other Aboriginal service providers across Australia.
As the largest employer in the Barkly region, offering CDP to over 1,200 people in the region - this is one of the success stories of Aboriginal organisations across Australia.
Your New Role
JCAC is now seeking a full-time CDP Manager to join their employment services team in Regional NT.
Reporting to the Senior Employment Manager, you will be primarily responsible for overseeing the delivery of the Community Development Program.
Your key responsibilities will include, but may not be limited to:
- Leading and developing culturally diverse and geographically dispersed teams;
- Providing leadership to remote program managers;
- Establishing and maintaining mutually beneficial relationships with stakeholders;
- Managing business operations in line with budgets, service delivery plans and performance frameworks; and
- Demonstrating a practical ‘hands-on’ approach to leadership in accordance with program requirements.
Please Note: This role requires frequent travel to remote offices in order to develop staff, contribute to the implementation of strategic initiatives, and maintain relationships with stakeholders.
The successful candidate will have a background in community or employment sectors, within a managerial capacity. You'll be experienced in leading culturally diverse teams with a positive and professional approach, and will have the ability to oversee financial, physical and staff resources. JCAC is looking for someone to hit the ground running, so ideally you'll be able to bring CDP expertise!
As this is a pivotal role in which your main aim will be to engage community members to become involved in the local workforce, an understanding and sensitivity to the issues affecting affecting job seekers in remote areas will be highly advantageous.
Effective interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to consult, negotiate and liaise with a diverse range of people to achieve required outcomes, will be essential; this will ensure your ability to manage complex relationships with stakeholders of all levels.
Competency in the use of computer programs is also required in order to complete the large amount of online work this position entails.
A current driver's licence, and willingness to undergo a Police Criminal History Check and a Working with Children Check are essential requirements of this role.
